Hey, what’s up. This is Alfredo, I’m an online Spanish teacher. Welcome to episode number one of the Alfredo Spanish Podcast, where I share tips and resources for learning Spanish. This is the English version of the podcast, there’s also a Spanish version that you can find it on my site, or wherever you listen to your podcasts. Just search for the Spanish version of the Alfredo Spanish Podcast.
Today, I want to share two resources with you. A TED Talk and a concert, both by musician Jorge Drexler, that’s J – o – r – g – e, space, D – r – e – x – l – e – r.
Let’s start with the talk. In his talk, called Poetry, Music and Identity, Drexler examines the blended nature of identity. I think he does a great job at telling a story through words and music. He speaks in Spanish, and a little bit in English. There are subtitles available, in Spanish and English, plus other languages. You can find it at TED.com or use the link I will leave in the show notes.
Now, onto the concert. He sings in Spanish about migration, about the importance of silence in a hyperconnected world, and more. So, search YouTube for Jorge Drexler: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert. The concert has subtitles in English which were done in collaboration with the very same Drexler. I will also leave the link in the show notes.
Well, that was all for today. For the transcription of this episode, the translation into Spanish and the show notes you can go to my website, it’s AlfredoGorga.com, I will spell it, it’s A – L – F – R – E – D – O , G-O-R-G-A, dot com.
Thanks for listening and until next time. Bye, bye.
